The Photographer

Dave has his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from Colorado State, where he also began pursuing his photography training.

After moving to Southern California in 1988 to begin his engineering career, he also enrolled in the photography program at Orange Coast College. In addition, over the years he has attended numerous workshops and seminars by working professionals in photography, design, and painting. All to learn about light, color, and more recently about creating digital images.

Engineering, construction, and photography were all part of his first career as a registered engineer, and since 2003, photography, as well as construction and engineering now describe his second.

Currently, he provides photography for engineering and construction firms, in addition to ongoing editorial, stock, and assignment photography for southern California publications and agencies, real estate companies, corporations, and private clients.

The website was named Vesper Light as the evening hour is the prime window of natural light that Dave likes to work in. Even when planning an interior shot, the evening sky is preferred to add a warm dimension to an interior setting if there is any view to the outdoors.

His foremost influences are Ansel Adams, Eliot Porter, Claude Monet, William Ritschel, Frank Cuprien (and other late California painters), and a host of contemporary photographers. "It's all about capturing the light!", he says (as well as creating that rare photograph).

Dave serves all of Southern California, and can be reached at (949) 458-8468.
